Name: Kween Kandace
Meet WomanPreneur Kween Kandace she is a North Carolina native that has her own natural hair products. This past weekend I had attend an event in the NoDA area in Charlotte, NC. Kandace was out being a girl boss promoting and selling her products. I had a great time talking to her and she is such a humble and awesome person! I wish her many success with her business and check out my interview questions with Kween Kandace below!
1. Geornee': You are such a beautiful person inside and out. I had read your hair bio on your website www.Khemistreenaturals.com. Such inspirational story. What made you wanted to create your own natural hair products?
Kween kandace: First of all, thank you Geornee. Getting this feedback inspires me to continue to help other along their natural hair journey or during their transition. What made me want to create my own hair products was my experience with hair loss. My hair story is on my blog at www.khemistreenaturals.com. I was already getting into natural health and medicine before my hair loss started, so after it actually happened I knew I would use natural oils on my scalp to help nourish it and regrow my hair. When all my hair finally grew back, I decided I wasn't going to be a product junky because of all the unnatural and unhealthy ingredients I would read on the labels. With the understanding that we absorb everything into our bodies that we put onto our skin/scalp, I wanted to create products for my hair that would healthy for me on the inside and out.
2. Geornee': What or Who motivates you to keep pushing for your brand? And what's your overall goal for your natural hair products... Like do you see your brand being sold in major manufactures stores like Sally's Beauty, Target, Walmart?
Kween kandace: Hearing feedback from people in regards to my hair story and my progress with my company thus far definitely helps me to keep sharing my gifts. I want to help women embrace their natural hair making products that are nourishing and made from the earth. The overall goal for my brand is to help create jobs for women around the world. I want to keep my products handmade and therefore employ people and not machines. I want to teach men and women the value and sacredness of the ingredients used when making all-natural products. If I make it into a big chain store, congratulations. But what's more important to me is sharing not only my products with the world but knowledge of my products as well. Educating and nourishing along the way.
3. Geornee': What made you moved to Charlotte, NC to start a new life? And how has your experience been so far?
Change moved me to Charlotte. I visited one time and fell in love with the eclectic atmosphere. People are so open-minded and spiritual and in tune with themselves and the world around them.
4.Geornee': Who makes your products and Which one is your favorite to get large volume curls?
Kween Kandance: All my products are handmade by yours truly. When it comes to curl definers, I don't have a product specifically for that (maybe in the future). My products cater to hair and scalp nutrition which means they, especially Krown Whip - Root & Kurl Nourishment, will always improve the appearance of the hair. I have also heard testimonies of softer kurls that do form better after using Krown Whip.
5.Geornee': What do you like to do in your spare time when you not working on your brand? And what makes you confidence?
Kween Kandance: In my spare time, I read. I'm a bookworm and one day I will have one of those libraries like in Beauty & the Beast :) I also enjoy yoga and hiking and spending time with friends. Now, when it comes to being confident, do you mean personally or when it comes to my business? I will answer both. I'm confident in my business because I've used and sold my signature product, Krown Whip, for a year. I make it a habit to study the natural ingredients that I use. Personally, I'm working on my self-confidence. After my experience with hair loss, I felt transformed and I did a lot of reflection and meditation to help myself regain confidence. No woman wants to lose her hair and there's a lot of women who hide underneath a wig because of hair loss.
6. Geornee': Describe yourself in 3 words and where do you see yourself in 5 years from now?
Kween Kandance: Natural (lol, I don't even wear deodorant) Leader Bubbly Five years from now, I hope to still be active in helping to build the community via local food systems. I also, hope to have women on my team helping to make my products by hand and selling in natural stores and hair salons.
7. Geornee': What do you look for in a boyfriend? And what qualities must he had to be your king?
Kween Kandance: Hmm, lol. In a boyfriend, I'm attracted to intellect. I like for a guy to be book smart and street smart, that's balance. He must be open and caring, yet strong and protective. I would like for my king to be able to provide guidance, especially since I'm a Gemini and our thoughts seem to run crazy. Honesty is important, and he must be able to hold conversations with me about anything because I'm a truth seeker and a chatterbox.
